The Chicago Bears are almost certainly going to select USC quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

After trading quarterback Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers, it's obvious that Chicago is going to draft a quarterback. And it would be a shock if that quarterback is anyone other than Williams.

But despite the fact that Williams seems destined to land in Chicago, the Bears are still making sure to do their due diligence on the former USC Trojan.

And part of that due diligence is Williams' top-30 draft visit next week.

Before the Bears draft Williams (or anyone for that matter), they want to make sure that their potential new franchise quarterback fully understands the history and tradition of the franchise/Chicago fan base.

"They need to understand the history and tradition of the Chicago Bears and the history and tradition of these fans," said Bears president Kevin Warren at the NFL owners meetings on Tuesday when asked about Williams and other players who will make pre-draft visits.

If Williams wants to check all the boxes for Chicago, then he'll make sure he walks into his top-30 visit next week fully understanding what the Bears mean to the city. He'll understand the rich history of one of the NFL's most historic franchises and the passion of the fan base.

There's very little that's going to dissuade Chicago from taking Williams, but the franchise still wants to see the talented quarterback go all-in on being a Bear. And that means fully embracing what it means to be a Bear.
